10 TIPS TO EASILY ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET

TIPS & TRICKS

In this week's blog post, we will be sharing 10 tips that will help you easily organize your closet. These tips come in handy during transition seasons, similar to the conditions in Lebanon now! It's important to stay updated on what you have in wardrobe & what you need, so follow these tips to make the best of your style & closet!

1. GO THROUGH YOUR CLOSET AT LEAST TWICE PER YEAR

Going through your closet, and organizing it at least twice per year – once during fall/winter, and the second time during spring/summer – is a great way to stay aware of what you have in your closet.

    2. ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET BY ARTICLE OF CLOTHING

It’s important to organize the clothing pieces you have by what type of category it fits into. Jackets together, sweaters together, trousers together, and etc.

      3. DON’T BE AFRAID TO EMPTY YOUR CLOSET

While going through your closet, pick up each item and really think about how you feel about it. It’s important to be able to see every item that you own, maybe spread onto your bed, sorted into three piles: yes, no, and maybe.

        4. THE ‘MAYBE’ PILE

It’s okay to put the ‘maybe’ pile back in a small section of your closet. Try wearing each item that you put in your ‘maybe’ pile for a full day. See how you feel about the item during that day. If you still feel great about the item at the end of the day, then it’s a YES! If not, maybe it’s time to give that item away.

          5. PUTTING YOUR ITEMS BACK IN THE CLOSET

It can be helpful for you to put your items back into the closet by color, which means having all the reds together, the blacks together, etc. In addition to this, you can also organize by volume, or how much space the item takes. For example, you can hang all your white tops together, starting with crop tops, t-shirts, and ending with long-sleeves. This makes the process of choosing your outfit and tidying up your closet much easier.

            6. ORGANIZING BY SEASON

In Lebanon, we only see drastic weather during very short periods. We are able to wear the same piece differently all throughout the year. That’s why I have a smaller closet where I keep the very wintery pieces during the summer, and where I keep the summery pieces during the winter.

This idea also helps me while shopping, I can buy the same piece and style it differently according to the weather conditions!

              7. ITEMS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL BAD WHEN YOU WEAR THEM OUT

The items that don’t make you feel good all day long are items that you will never wear! Feeling guilty about buying an item and not wearing it at all is not an excuse to keep it in your closet. Let it go! Sell it on Pink Attik, or donate it!

                8. ITEMS YOU’RE BORED OF

Items that you’ve worn a lot, to the point where you feel like you’re repeating yourself, can be kept in a box to revisit later on. Maybe when you open this box up in a year’s time, you will feel much better about the item.

Another thing you can do with these items is try to mix and match it with different pieces in your wardrobe to create 3 new outfits that you’ve never worn before. If you are able to style it in 3 new ways, then this item is a keeper! You still have the ability to style it in a way that you love and have not worn before.

                  9. VINTAGE PIECES

Vintage pieces are usually very hard to get rid of. They are treasures, and very often hold sentimental value! But if you’re not wearing it, it would be satisfying to see someone else do. Or, if it really does hold a lot of sentimental value, keep it until you’re ready to style it the way you want to!

                    10. NEVER ORGANIZE ACCESSORIES AND CLOTHING ON THE SAME DAY

It takes a lot of energy to go through your clothing. That’s why it’s important to go through your shoes, bags, and jewelry the same way you do with clothes, on a separate day.

The most important thing you get out of cleaning your closet is knowing what you have, what items you miss, and what new styles you want to explore. This refreshes your mind and gives you new ways to style your clothing in a way that agrees with current trends and fashion.

The good deal in fashion is not buying a t-shirt for 10,000LBP, a good deal is buying things that you are sure you will wear on the long-term because you love it. Watch Elsa's YouTube video, in which she shares these 10 tips, here:
